Naughty Cabaret

Naughty Cabaret lovar ei “energibombe” av ei forestilling under årets Oslo Fringe, dessverre treff dei ikkje helt spikaren på hovudet. Forestillinga opnar med ein litt for lang seanse med Naughty, Nice og ein sparkesykkel. Humoren er enkel, men slår likevel an hos eit godt berusa publikum. Kva publikum eigentleg skal få servert denne kvelden får vi aldri vite før det brått blir introdusert ein stand-up-artist som kjem løpande ned trappa.

Kveldens gjestar er stødige i kvart sitt fag og leverer upåklagelege framsyningar innimellom dei noko malplasserte og gjentakande humorinnslaga frå Naughty og Nice sjølv. Samtidig er det noko vanskeleg å finne den raude tråden i forestillinga. Dei to hovudkarakterane, Naughty og Nice, kjem dessverre aldri heilt til sin rett i kveldens cabaret og blir overskugga av dei andre innslaga. Dette passar kanskje godt for eit publikum som kjenner desse to karakterane frå før, men for dei som er nye til denne verda blir det vanskeleg å henge med på humoren og bli kjent med dei to karakterane på denne eine timen.

Det er likevel ingen tvil om at Naughty Cabaret gav publikum ein humoristisk kveld med gode prestasjonar frå alle på scena. Det passar dog kanskje best for deg med ein del halvlitarar innabords og som kjenner konseptet frå tidlegare forestillingar. Men, er det ein ting kveldens forestilling beviser, så er det at alt blir morosamt når du puttar “googly eyes” på det!

Naughty Cabaret promises an 'energy bomb' of a performance at this year's Oslo Fringe, but unfortunately, they don't quite hit the nail on the head. The show opens with a slightly too long session with Naughty, Nice, and a scooter. The humor is simple, but still resonates with a good and tipsy audience. They never let the audience know what concept they’re actually going to experience this evening, until a stand-up comedian is suddenly introduced and comes running down the stairs.

Tonight's guests are solid in their respective fields and deliver impeccable performances amidst the somewhat misplaced and repetitive humor from Naughty and Nice themselves. At the same time, it's difficult to find the common thread in the performance. The two main characters, Naughty and Nice, unfortunately never quite shine in tonight's cabaret and are overshadowed by the other acts. This may work well for an audience familiar with these two characters from previous shows, but for those new to this world, it's challenging to keep up with the humor and get to know the two characters in this one hour.

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that Naughty Cabaret provided the audience with a humorous evening and good performances from everyone on stage. However, it may be best suited for those who have had a few drinks and are familiar with the concept from previous performances. But, if there's one thing tonight's show proves, it's that everything can be fun as long as you put googly eyes on it!
